About K9 Security

Founded in 2019 by CEO David Hutnyk & CAO Alex Hutnyk, K9ine Security is a locally owned and operated security company headquartered in Cobourg, Ontario. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in the security industry, David launched K9ine Security to provide a better standard of service for both clients and guards alike.

It all started when David was working full-time as a licensed security guard, raising a young family, and volunteering as a firefighter with his local Fire and Emergency Services. Despite his dedication to his job, he became increasingly frustrated with the lack of proper training, poor treatment of staff, and the feeling of being “just a number” in a system that needed change.

That’s when David, alongside his loyal K9 partner Pepper and his wife Alex, decided to build something different. K9ine Security was born out of a commitment to professionalism, community care, and setting a new standard in security guard services.

Our mission is simple: to protect people, property, and peace of mind — while treating our employees with dignity and providing them with the real-world training they need to succeed. We are hired by large and small businesses, public sectors, and nonprofits all over Ontario to assist in whatever they need.
