Founded in 2024, KTAC has been over 15 years in the making. What began as a concept to support municipalities with professional K9 services for non-core policing applications has since grown into a highly respected tactical unit. The KTAC team was formed in response to increasing demand from communities that lack the resources to deploy police K9 units but still face serious public safety concerns.
In its inaugural year, KTAC was called upon by an Ontario municipality to support a complex bylaw enforcement initiative. Highly Trained Operators
KTAC Operators are more than security guards—they are cross-trained professionals with expertise in multiple fields. Each team member is:
- Licensed as a Security Guard
- Certified in Conflict and Situational Management
- Trained in Crisis De-escalation and Mental Health First Aid
- First Responder Medical certified
- Experienced in advanced RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) drone operations
- Skilled K9 handlers with training in animal care and control
- Physically fit and capable of handling high-stress deployments in varied environments
All KTAC Operators must maintain a high level of physical readiness and participate in mandatory weekly scenario-based training to stay sharp in every discipline.
KTAC Services
K9-Backed Property Clearance
KTAC works directly with municipalities to clear and secure vacant buildings, often in collaboration with Bylaw Officers. These buildings are typically breached, abandoned, and present health and safety risks. KTAC Operators use proper PPE, including steel-toe boots, helmets, and respirators, to ensure safe entry.
Once on-site, our team:
- Issues verbal callouts to occupants before entering
- Conducts K9-led searches
- Documents the condition of the property with photographs and video
- Uses body-worn and K9-mounted cameras for full transparency
- Provides detailed written reports for municipal use and enforcement
Aerial Drone Surveillance and Search
KTAC’s drone operations use high-tech RPAS equipment, including thermal and infrared imaging. These are deployed for:

Critical Medical Support for Events
KTAC Operators are certified to deliver emergency medical support during public events or high-risk deployments. With First Responder-level medical training, our team can stabilize patients and coordinate further medical care.
